The sober tones of this piece are unusual in the Bridgetown Series, where much of the work makes use of pure, bright colour. This painting is the first major work in the series depicting man’s machinery in the country landscape, and is the first of three paintings of trains in the artist’s Nova Scotia work. It makes extensive use of pure wash as well as drybrush work. |
